The Fund
The BlueSpace Fund is a long-only equity fund investing in the Space Economy sector. Target companies, which are mainly listed in the US and Europe, are involved in the launch industry, satellite manufacturing, space exploration, space infrastructure, broadcasting, broadband connectivity, Internet of Things, 5G and earth observation. The fund invests furthermore in companies that directly benefit from space technologies and that use space data for their products and services. Companies are selected through a financial analysis process coupled with a technical-scientific analysis provided by a leading advisory board.
Update on the Space Economy
In early April, the first 10 of 28 Space Development Agency (SDA) Tranche 0 satellites were put into orbit with a launch of a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket. When completed, Tranche 0 will consist of 20 data transmission satellites (10 built by York Space Systems and 10 by Lockheed Martin, which "passed" the contract to Terran Orbital) and 8 missile warning/missile tracking (4 built by SpaceX and 4 by L3Harris). The constellation will be followed by Tranche 1, which will consist of 173 new satellites that will be manufactured by Northrop Grumman, Lockheed Martin, York Space Systems and L3Harris. The launch of Amazon Kuiper test satellites was delayed following the test failure of ULA's Vulcan Centaur launcher. SpaceX launched the largest rocket in history, Starship Super Heavy, which was able to reach nearly 40km altitude. The test will provide important information for the refinement of the launcher, which is essential for putting the second generation of Starlink satellites into orbit and for space exploration programs. AST SpaceMobile succeeded in its "direct-to-device" voice call experiment, which is a phone connection with unmodified smartphones that connected directly to the Bluewalker 3 satellite. This represents a major step forward in demonstrating the technology, thus enabling the possibility of starting to put the BlueBirds satellite constellation into orbit during 2024. AST Spacemobile already has important agreements with telecom operators like AT&T, Rakuten, Telefonica, Orange and Vodafone, among others.
